Twelfth Night
Presented by the Theater at Monmouth

Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 9:30am (one 90-minute performance)
Main Stage

Shakespeare’s rollicking tale of wild infatuation and mistaken identities—Twelfth Night is set at Illyria University where Orsino pines for the love Olivia, neglecting both his studies and friends. At a sister school, Illyria College for Women, Olivia mourns her late brother and rejects all suitors under the watchful eye of her stern headmaster, Malvolio. When shipwrecked and separated twins, Viola and Sebastian, clad in the uniform of a nearby military academy, arrive on the scene mayhem and misadventure ensue. With raucous antics, ravishing language, and rich characters, Shakespeare creates a bittersweet confection of laughter and longing.
Tickets for this performance are $1 for students! Made possible by the generosity of the Oak Grove Foundation.

The Civil War
Presented by TheatreWorks USA
Monday,
February 3, 2014 at 9:30am and noon
Main Stage
Recommended for grades 3-9

Over one hundred and fifty years ago, the United States of America split in half as the north and south waged war against each other over preserving a way of life versus preserving the union. While decisions made by Abraham Lincoln, Robert E. Lee, and General Sherman affected the course of American history, ordinary Americans carried out these orders, and often made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

The Civil War was a defining moment in American History - the fire of war burned away the scourge of slavery and, in time, melded the separate states into a true nation. In telling the tale of this large and complex event, this Theatreworks show focuses on the smaller stories of some of the soldiers who are caught up in it, including, Zak, a runaway slave who demands the right to fight his own fight; Will, his former best friend and "master;" Johnny, an Irish immigrant who volunteers to defend his new home; and Jackie, a girl who becomes a drummer boy.

Stuart Little
Presented by TheatreIV
Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 9:30am and noon**
Main Stage
Recommended for grades K-5

Stuart, a mouse, is born into the Little family. Although he is quite different from other members of the family, Stuart is loved by all--except perhaps Snowbell, the family cat. Stuart's adventures include getting caught in a window shade, sailing a boat, making friends, and embarking on the journey of a lifetime. By turns funny, tender, and exciting, Stuart Little mixes child-size puppets with live actors to work theatrical magic.
**Both performances are nearly sold out and cannot accommodate large groups.
